Baptism is a symbol of Christ's burial and resurrection. Our entrance into the water during baptism identifies us with Christ's death on the cross, his burial into the tomb and his resurrection from the dead.

Baptism doesn't make you a believer-it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not "save" you, only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring-its the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart.

We each used to independently call our own shots, but then we entered into a large and integrated life in which Christ has the final say in everything. This is what we proclaimed in word and action when we were baptized. Each of us is now a part of his resurrection body. 1 Corinthians 12:13 (MSG)
